8 SPEC (1)

 
There is a word 'Spec war'. As we are facing one of the worst job markets in years, applicants try to improve themselves continuously. Furthermore, people even make 8 spec (qualification) and spend lots of time on making preparations for 8 spec. So, in this time, let's see what 8 spec mean dividing into two posts.
 
 
1. Educational Background
 
 
 
 
Educational background is first one of 8 spec. Even though companies try to remove academic factionalism, it is still important part in Korea. However, as companies have expanded range of recruitment to employ local students and even employee with a high school diploma, it can be overcome if applicants make their own story.
 
 
2. Credits
 
With educational background, credit is second one of 8 spec. Through evaluating credits when applicants are university student, companies try to make a decision about applicant's sincereness and single-mindedness.
 
 
3. Toeic
 
 
 
 
The third one of 8 spec is TOEIC. Since English skills are essential in today's global era, English grade is necessary for recruitment. Even though the position is not needed to use English, they want to evaluate applicant's English skill because most of the companies are planning to extend their business abroad. Therefore, you have to prepare to get a good grade in TOEIC.
 
 
4. Certification
 
 
 
 

Fourth one of 8 spec is certification. To prove practical business fitness, applicants get certified such as computer certificate of qualification or other professional qualifications. When you try to get some certification, knowledge of position have to take precedence. I will post more information about certification later.

Application procedure

Companies utilize many ways to recruit new employees who are suitable for the right people of their companies. Even though there are various procedures of recruitment, I made a picure of general procedure is down below.
 

 
1. Screening Test
The first step is screening test. Applicants propose their own resume and a letter of self-introduction. With applicant's resume, companies select persons who are suitable for the position based on their educational backgrounds, credits, language skill and so on. This is because there are so many applicants that human resources team cannot manage all their letters of their introduction. And then with the letter of self-introduction, each department which is in charge of recruitment evaluates documents and select persons as the number of fixed successful applicants in this step.
 
 
 

2. Personality & Aptitude Test
 
The second step is personality & aptitude test. The test is divided into two parts, one is personality test that evaluates human behavior and emotion pattern and the other is aptitude test that evaluates lanaguage, mathematics, space perception, knowledge of job and so on. This personality & aptitude test has entered into general use, so you can practice workbooks in the bookshop.
 
 
 
3. First and Second Interview

The third step is Interview. Usually, first interview is done by working gruop and then second interview is done by board members. Also, there are many kinds of interview such as personality interview, presentation interview, debate interview and so on. It is depending on each company, so you have to search which interview the companies do. Later, I will post interview tips like proper posture and expected question and so on. 
 
 
 
 
You can get an opportunity of physical examination if you pass all procedure before. In this step, you just get a very basic examination and then selected as a final applicant.  
 
 
All these processes are very difficult to ready and pass, and it would be a long, hard fight.
However, remember 'No gains without pains'.
There will be a light at the end of the tunnel! ;)
